You Have Hope!

Hope 3The truth is that life has difficult turns.  Sometimes, I feel that I am on one of those amusement park rides that make me sick and never seems to end.  However, they do end, and challenging times in life eventually pass.  Hope is a key factor to passing through obstacles in life without losing your sanity.

Where is your hope?

True hope lies in Jesus Christ.  My answer might seem cliché, nevertheless, it is true.  “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19.  The hope Jesus brings is lasting; it does not fade with the coming and going of circumstances.

If you have accepted Jesus, He is in you by the Holy Spirit.  That, in and of itself, is a great deal of hope.  Colossians 1:27 says that Christ in you is the hope of glory.  Hope lives inside of you which means that you do not have to despair in times of trouble.  I know, easier said than done.  However, God does not call us to have hope, and live as if we have hope only to refuse to give us the hope we need.  You have hope!  No matter how desperate your situation is, Jesus will give you the grace you need to come out of the battle as victor.  It is up to you to choose the hope He gives.Hope

Is it possible to have hope in tragedy?

I have seen great tragedies during my lifetime.  As a matter of fact, some of them have visited me.  Parents have lost children to death when it seemed life had only begun.  Many parents have told me that something is terribly wrong with a child leaving this world before the parent does.  How does one reconcile such tragedy and grief with a loving God?  The answer is never easy, and we certainly should not pretend to have the answers when speaking with the grieving.  Pray for those who have lost children to find hope in Christ.  It is not impossible, but it is not something with which we should beat them over the head, only pushing them further away.Hope 2

When relationships are lost, there is hope in Christ.  He can heal the wounds that have torn your heart into pieces.  When a child struggles with addiction, there is hope in Christ as deliverer.  When all seems lost, Christ is there, the hope of glory reminding us that there is more than just what we see with our physical eyes.  I know the pain is intense, trust me, I do, but go to Jesus and ask Him to give you a glimpse of how the future with Him will look.

When I think of tragedies, I always think of Job.  He lost everything!  His children and possessions were lost in one day.  His health left his body soon thereafter.  His wife did nothing to help him in affliction.  Job’s friends told him that he had sinned and needed to repent.  However, Job made a very powerful statement that is found in Job 19:25-26, “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed yet in my flesh I shall see God.”  Job knew where hope was!

How about you?  Do you know where your hope lies?  If not, you can find Him today.
